Annabel Charlton

Annabel is a piper from Pitlochry, Scotland, currently studying for a Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree at the University of Aberdeen.

She started her piping career at the Vale of Atholl aged 6 where she competed in grade 4B. After three competing seasons with Pitlochry and Blair Atholl in grade 3B and then 3A, Annabel made the jump to grade 1 where in 2025 she competed with Police Scotland Fife. 

A member of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland for five years, she has had the opportunity to perform at Perth Concert Hall and the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall numerous times as well as Usher Hall in Edinburgh. She has also featured on stage at Celtic Connections three times, playing alongside Carlos Núñez in 2024.

A regular on the solo competition circuit, Annabel has won many top juvenile solo piping competitions and is a double All Ireland champion. She is excited to join the senior ranks and to compete in competitions across Scotland as well as Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. 

Annabel receives private tuition from Jack Lee and has been under his guidance since September 2022.

Having followed the Big Rab Show for a while, Annabel volunteered to help after a call for volunteers to help at the Dollar Academy competition. Since then, Annabel has continued to provide coverage at Scottish competitions and events.
